World Series of Boxing Launches New Website!

World Series of Boxing Launches New Website
WSB June 01, 2010

Lausanne, Switzerland, May 25, 2010 - the World Series of Boxing (WSB), the new boxing championship set to debut in November, officially launches its new and improved website to the general public Tuesday, May 25, 2010.

With a new vision for the boxing world, WSB has set out to create an enhanced consumer-focused website. As of May 25, worldseriesboxing.com will begin showcasing its fresh, clean, and professional look and feel complete with added multimedia features. The website will provide boxing fans with the latest news and development, in addition to much more exclusive content in a user-friendly way thanks to improved navigation and clickable tabs.

Worldseriesboxing.com will also provide easy accessibility to all 12 franchise teams’ personalized web pages as they come online.

The Boxers section, once geared toward team executives and officials, will now cater specifically to the boxing fan. In particular, fans can see the full list of boxers available for the June 28-29 International Draft. As the teams take shape, a database will be implemented to offer boxer information, match schedules and ultimately a complete results service from the tournament.

A new interactive Fan Zone allows boxing fans to explore news on their favorite social media platforms and interact with like-minded boxing fans.

About the WSB

Ushering in a new era in boxing, the World Series of Boxing is a new global boxing series that is an initiative of AIBA, the International Boxing Association, under the leadership of its president Dr. C.K. Wu. The World Series of Boxing will bring together the best of the amateur and professional boxing worlds. Not only will it be the first truly global professional-style boxing tournament, it will also allow all participants to retain their eligibility to participate in the Olympic Games.

The WSB will comprise 12 city-based Franchise teams spread across three regional conferences: Asia, the Americas and Europe. During the regular season (November 2010 to March 2011), teams in each conference will compete against each other over two home and two away legs (a total of 12 matches per team).

Boxing squads will consist of between 10 and 20 boxers, with a cap on the maximum number of national boxers and a requirement to field between 3 and 6 non-national boxers according to squad size.

The top team from each conference, plus the best second-placed team, will then go through to the play-off series to compete for a place in the team championship final in Macau, China. Separate individual championships will also be held for the best boxers in each of the five weight divisions (54kg, 61kg, 73kg, 85kg, and 91+ kg).

The four Asian franchises were signed in January at the AIBA Executive Committee meeting in Xiamen, China. The teams will be based in Astana (Kazakhstan), Baku (Azerbaijan), Beijing (China) and Delhi (India).

The first two European franchises are confirmed as Moscow, Russia and Milan, Italy. Agreements with Istanbul and Paris are in the pipeline.

Negotiations are ongoing in the US with a number of interested parties.

Hello eveyone,

Just wanted to let you know that the AAC election information is up on the USAB website. 2010 U-19 Late Arrival Information-SNOW ALERT!

2010 U-19 Late Arrival Information

Please forward this information to anyone participating in U-19

If your arrival is delayed please call me on my Cell phone at 240-538-1858.

Information regarding a late arrival must be supplied to Admin prior to the start of the draw.

As you all know the Ohio Valley and much of the East Coast has been hammered by a major snow storm.

I expect that there will be flight cancelations and delays at many airports as well as difficulty traveling by automobile.

If you are faced with this situation please let us know that you have been delayed and when you expect to be arriving in Cincinnati.

The tournament draw is scheduled for Monday evening 2/8/2010 beginning at 8:00 PM and ending at 9:00 PM.

Information regarding a late arrival must be supplied to Admin prior to the START of the draw.

No further entries will accepted once the draw begins.

As in past years, if an athlete registered in the event is unavoidably delayed and Tournament Admin is informed prior to the tournament draw that the athlete intends to arrive in time for the competition that athlete will be placed into the draw at the weight listed on their entry form. If you have been delayed you may call me (Allan Nader) between the hours of 9:00 PM and 11:00 PM on Monday evening for information regarding when an athlete is slated to box.

Competition is scheduled to begin on Tuesday 2/9/2010 at 7:00 PM. If an athlete’s bout is one of those scheduled for Tuesday and they have been unavoidably delayed and have informed/called Admin they will be allowed to weigh in and be examined by a physician until just before they are called to the ring. Weight restrictions will be in place. There is NO weight allowance. An athlete must weigh in at or below their weight class limit. Also, the athlete must present their passbook at the late weigh-in/physical. As always the “NO BOOK NO BOX” rule is in force. There will be no exceptions to these requirements.

This event is expected to be relatively small. Some weight classes may not begin competition until Wednesday 2/10/2010 or even Thursday 2/11/2010. Should a delayed participant arrive prior to the day they are required to compete please check in with Admin immediately upon arrival and submit the athlete’s passbook to validate their eligibility to compete and to ensure that Admin is aware of their presence. Each athlete must weigh in on the days they compete. Per the posted schedule, weigh in begins at 7:00 AM and ends at 9:00 AM each day or when the last athlete has weighed in. Competitors are required to report to weigh-in at 7:00 AM. If an athlete misses a scheduled weigh in or fails to make weight after checking in with Admin they will be eliminated from the tournament (as usual).

If you are delayed please call me on my Cell phone at 240-538-1858.

I will work with you to facilitate your participation.

Good luck and safe travel to all,

Allan Nader, U-19 Tournament Dir.
